Selective Enrollment Prep

• Of the more than 100 high schools in the Chicago Public School system, 11 of them admit students based on merit: test scores and grades. These Selective Enrollment High Schools provide academically advanced students with a challenging, enriched college preparatory experience. Among these premier high schools, the most elite—and most selective—are the famous Top Four: Walter Payton, Northside, Jones, and Whitney Young. The Top Four’s average annual acceptance rate is lower than 4%. It goes without saying that competition is beyond fierce for these selective-enrollment high schools.
